To validate your phone number, simply enter a value in the phone number field that is configured to work with Record Validation. Record Validation will analyze your input and will convert it into the defined Country format standard.
The default format is E.164. You can change the format standard at via RV Setup > Phone > edit the phone validations.
Country codes shared by multiple countries
Usually, once you have entered the country code of a phone number, the country indicator of the phone field changes to the intended country. However, some phone number country codes are shared by several countries, such as +1 for the USA, Canada, Jamaica and more, or +44 for the UK, Guernsey, the Isle of Man, and Jersey. When starting to type such a phone number, and no other coutry indication is given yet on the record (country indicator top right) it is not clear straight away which country the phone number is located in. As a result, initially the default country is shown in front of such a phone field, even when the default country is not related to the country code.
Change the country indicator in front of the phone field to the intended country and validate the phone number. After saving the record, the set country is used for the phone field.
